Goodwill seeks to meet the serious needs in our communities and change more lives. Our continued growth will allow us to serve more veterans in their pursuit of independence and more disabled in their search for dignity.  We are proud to report that in in 2012, we provided services to 24,427 people and placed 1,406 people into employment. This year to date (July 2013), Goodwill has increased its services by providing training services for 11,019 while placing 713 into competitive employment.
 
ADVANCE Acquired Brain Injury is a day program that serves individuals who have experienced a brain injury. Participants are provided with assessment, cognitive remediation, literacy instruction and independent living instruction. Once they have progressed participants are assisted with entering work activity through various services.
 
Operation Open Doors offers “New Beginnings New Hope” to homeless Veterans through reintegration into employment and the community. Veterans are assisted in securing housing, health care and their veterans’ benefits while receiving training and employment services.
 
Job Connection Career Centers are located in Brunswick, Lyons, Richmond Hill, and Waycross to provide job readiness classes and job search assistance to the community members.  The public can also access workshops in financial literacy, health and wellness, take ESL and GED classes, or have income taxes prepared through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.
 
Buena Vida is an initiative to expand Job Connections activities to Toombs/Montgomery County. The Career Center places emphasis on reaching out to the Hispanic/Latino community to provide adult education classes in Spanish along with English as a Second Language (ESL).

Beyond Jobs takes a holistic approach to job training, placement and family financial support services to equip women with the tools to achieve their educational, career and financial goals. Ultimately, Beyond Jobs is designed not just to place women in jobs, but to give them the tools and skills they need to support themselves and their families in the long-term.

Job Club this two week intensive training opportunity is designed to supply job seekers with the tools they need start on a new career path.  Goodwill will provide job readiness training, job leads, and other resources needed to conduct a successful job search in a classroom setting at no cost to the job seeker.  
 
General Mission Services includes…
  • Vocational Assessment provides testing and situational assessment to assist individuals with disabilities or other barrier to employment to identify their strengths, abilities, needs and preferences.
  • Work Adjustment assists participants seeking employment to develop or reestablish work habits and behaviors, quality and quantity of work, determine functional capacities, develop proper work habits, and interpersonal skills along with effective communication skills and increased stamina. Two types of Work Adjustment are provided: Facility Based here at Goodwill and Community Based with Goodwill’s business partners in the community.
  • Job Readiness provides the participant with the skills necessary to prepare a cover letter and resume, complete applications, conduct an effective job search, and develop interview skills.
  • Job Coaching provides the participant with training in an actual job with a one-to-one Job Coach.
  • Personal & Social Adjustment provides the participant with intensive counseling to remediate interpersonal difficulties and behaviors which hinder success on the job.
  • Employment Skills Training provides training in a number of occupational fields including clerical, janitorial, and forklift.
  • Job Placement Assistance enables the job seeker to secure employment in the competitive labor market.
